The us census bureau estimated gainesvilles fifth-largest university campus by enrollment. Gainesville is located at 293910 west, which is roughly the same latitude as houston, texas. According to the united states census bureau, the city has a total area of 62.4 square miles, of which 61.3 square miles is land and 1.1 square miles is water. The total area is 1.74% water. The us census bureau estimated gainesville’s population at 133,857 in 2018, a 7.7% increase from 2010. At the 2010 census there were 51,029 households, with 2.2 persons per household.
