How do we get set up to use the app at our facility?
Reach out to us at team@locknowapp.com, and we will start the short process. We collect names, emails and phone numbers (optional for SMS alert notifications) and minimal information about your campus for customization.
How can I try the app?
We offer a free, no risk trial. You must be registered with us to login and use the app. Email us at team@locknowapp.com, we would be happy to set you up!
How quickly can we be set up with the app?
The setup speed largely depends on how promptly we receive the required information from you. We strive to complete setups as quickly as possible.
Who can activate and receive alerts?
You determine who can activate and receive each of the 3 alert buttons.
How are alerts managed across multiple campuses?
You determine which users are connected to each campus on a per user basis. For example, you can keep most of your staff on the campus in which they work and connect administrators or management to multiple campuses.
What information is collected from users?
Names, email addresses, and phone numbers. We do not disclose this information to any third parties.
What if employees don’t want to download the app?
While we can’t force usage, encourage everyone to use the app for the safety of the facility. Users can elect to receive a text message alert only without downloading the app.
What happens if I am on a phone call during an alert?
The phone will vibrate and sound a softer alert sound in the background during a call.

Will the app work with my smartwatch?
Using a smartwatch with the app can produce inconsistent results. As a result, we don’t recommend using a smartwatch with the app.
What are the minimum operating system requirements?
Android: Version 5.0 and above.
iOS: Version 10.0 and above.
How can I check my phone’s operating system?
For iOS Users:
Check OS Version:
Open the “Settings” app.
Scroll down and tap on “General.”
Tap on “About.”
Here, you’ll see the “Software Version” which indicates your current iOS version.
For Android Users:
Check OS Version:
Open the “Settings” app.
Scroll down and tap on “About phone” or “About device” (this might vary slightly depending on the manufacturer).
Look for “Software information” or directly for “Android version.”
Can authorities receive alerts?
Yes, with your permission, cooperating authorities can receive either only active threat alerts or all alerts.
What are drills and how are they used?
Drills are practice for emergency preparedness, clearly labeled as drills in alerts and messaging. You determine access and activation permissions.
Can we add custom alerts?
You can customize alerts under the “General Alerts” button. You can determine the names of the alerts in this location. Please contact team@locknowapp.com to make changes to these sections.
