Las cruces is the seat of doa ana county, new mexico, united states. As of the 2010 census the population was 97,618, and in 2017 the estimated population was 101,712, making it the second largest city in the state, after albuquerque. Its demographics were 34.9% non-hispanic white, 2.6% african american or black, 1.5% native american, 1.7% asian, 0.0% native hawaiian or pacific islander, 2.9%two or more races, 58.6% hispanic or latino of any race. There where 39,809 households with an average household size of 2.49 people per household. Median household income was $40,924, and the percentage of people in poverty was 24.4%.
