Ashland is a city in jackson county, oregon, united states. It lies along interstate 5 approximately 16 miles north of the california border and near the south end of the rogue valley. There were 10,455 housing units at an average density of 1,587 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was about 90% white, 1% african american, 1% native american, 2% asian, 0.3% pacific islander, 1.4% from other races, and 4% from two or more races.
