Bloomington is a city in and the county seat of mclean county, illinois, united states. It is adjacent to normal, and is the more populous of the two principal municipalities of the bloomington-normal metropolitan area. The 2010 census showed the city had a population of 76,610, making it the 12th most populated city in illinois, and the fifth-most populous city in the state outside the chicago metropolitan area. Combined with normal, the twin cities have a population of roughly 130,000. Bloomington is located at 402903n 885937w. The city is at an elevation of 797 feet is water. As of the census of 2010, there were 76,610 people and 30,454 households within the city. The population density was 2,814.8 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 77.5% white, 10.1% african american, 0.3% native american, 7.0% asian, 1.42% from other races, and 2.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or latino of any race were 5.6% of the population.
